President Bola Tinubu has been accused of forged a certificate from Chicago State University (CSU) that was presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The revelation has sparked a legal battle, with social media users calling for Tinubu’s ouster in line with the Nigerian Constitution. Section 137(1)(j) of the Nigerian Constitution states that no one would be legitimately elected president if a person presents a forged certificate to the INEC.

The Supreme Court has been urged to address the issue, as certificate forgery is still a crime in Nigeria.

Tinubu was declared the winner of the February 25 presidential election but has faced several controversies, including allegations of forgery and perjury.

The presidential election petitions tribunal threw out all petitions by Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, affirming Tinubu’s victory. Tinubu had also filed a motion to prevent a federal court in the United States from releasing his university academic records to Abubakar, his principal opponent in the 2023 presidential election.

If Tinubu is sacked, he would be the first Nigerian president to be sacked by the Supreme Court.
