The Nigerian Federal Government plans to launch a $617.7 million Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises programme in November 2023.
The i-DICE program, launched in March under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, aims to promote innovation and generate job opportunities in the technology sector.
Vice President Kashim Shettima instructed the i-DICE Steering Committee to ensure the program starts before the end of November and urged all program partners to responsibly manage the allocated funds.
The project aims to create 1.2 million digital jobs, achieving President Bola Tinubu’s priorities on job creation and economic growth, particularly inclusivity.
The government is investing in technology startups to build local confidence and demonstrate its commitment to the Nigerian technology and creative ecosystem.
Funding arrangements have been finalized with the African Development Bank, with the government hoping to see new unicorns emerge from the program.
