Anna Andrea, a 47-year-old mother who underwent whole-body liposuction at a Russian facility, where she had fat removed from every region of her body, passed away two days later.
Andrea reportedly underwent a single treatment that involved the removal of fat from her face, neck, chin, breasts, stomach, hips, flanks, back, inner and outer thighs, buttocks, knees, calves, and ankles.
Maria Burlova, the head of the Abriell Clinic in St. Petersburg and a leading plastic surgeon in Russia, is credited with performing the treatment.
Andrea’s daughter, Kira Fedora, reportedly told Daily Mail that although her mother had just intended to get a facelift, she was “pressured into surgery on not only her face but her entire body, which the clinic actively promotes.”
“We have already brought a lawsuit against this clinic,” said Fedora. Dr. Burlova hasn’t responded.
The Russian Investigative Committee is looking into the case, and the police are looking into how the woman passed away after her condition “catastrophically” worsened two days after the treatment.
