A concerted effort or a specific action taken to strengthen and enhance a particular area or sector is act of CONSOLIDATION. In the context of improving health sector employment in Anambra State, it suggests a focused initiative to bolster the workforce and employment opportunities within the healthcare industry.

To achieve this, the following measures were considered by the Executive Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo:

Workforce Development: Implement programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing the skills and competence of healthcare professionals, whereby training opportunities, continuing education programs, and professional development and support to improve the quality of healthcare services.

Recruitment and Retention Strategies: Developed effective recruitment strategies to attract and retain qualified healthcare professionals in Anambra State; 980 healthcare workers were recruited covering over 300% of the last administration and 150% of the 2 previous administrations This may involve offering competitive salaries and benefits, creating a conducive work environment, and providing opportunities for career advancement.

Infrastructure Improvement: The Governor has Invested in the development and improvement of healthcare infrastructure, including hospitals, clinics, and healthcare facilities. Adequate infrastructure is essential for attracting healthcare professionals and providing quality healthcare services to the population.

Collaborations and Partnerships: The Governor has fostered collaborations and partnerships with educational institutions, professional associations, and private healthcare organizations to strengthen the health sector’s workforce. This can involve joint training programs, knowledge sharing, and resource pooling to address employment gaps and improve healthcare delivery.

Public-Private Partnerships: There are collaboration with private healthcare providers to create employment opportunities and expand healthcare services. Public-private partnerships can help leverage resources, expertise, and innovation to improve employment opportunities and the overall healthcare system in Anambra State.

It’s important to note that implementing an act of consolidation on improved health sector employment requires comprehensive planning, stakeholder engagement, and sustained commitment from the government, healthcare institutions, and other relevant parties.
