The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Atiku Abubakar won approval from a federal district court for the Northern District of Illinois to request that President Bola Tinubu’s academic records be made available by Chicago State University.
The decision was made on Tuesday by US magistrate Judge Jeffrey Gilbert, who instructed CSU to give the plaintiff, Abubakar Atiku, “all relevant and non-privileged documents” within two days.
“This issue is before the Court with respect to Atiku Abubakar’s Application pursuant to 28 U.S.C. 1782 for an Order Directing Discovery from Chicago State University for Use in a Foreign Proceeding (“Application”) [ECF No. 1]. The Application is allowed for the grounds outlined below,” the judge decided.
Attorneys for Tinubu have argued that their client is unwilling to waive his right to privacy, and the court’s decision acknowledges this by referring to certain records as “non-privileged documents.”
