In a recent bank robbery in Benue State, the Nigeria Police Force has attributed the late arrival of its reinforcements to poor roads and great distances. Three police officers, one vigilante, and a council member were among the over 11 persons slain when armed robbers broke into four banks in Otukpo town.
The bandits broke into the bank hallways after attacking the police station across from the banks and disarming every officer. First Bank, Zenith Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), and Stanbic Bank are the impacted banks.
According to SP Catherine Anene, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Benue State Police Command, the poor road caused police officers from other regions of the state to be delayed in joining those under the Otukpo Area Command in their efforts to confront the armed robbers.
