Three gunmen who were allegedly going to enforce the “illegal sit-at-home” policy in the state were reportedly pro-Biafran agitators, according to the Nigeria Police Force’s Enugu State Command on Monday.

The victims were reportedly shot early on Monday amid a gunfight with the security personnel, according to a statement by the Command’s spokeswoman, Daniel Ndukwe.

Three pump action weapons, cutlasses, and other incriminating materials, according to Ndukwe, were found.

An IPOB/ESN subversive criminal hideaway in Ezioha Mgbowo, Awgu Local Government Area, was busted by a joint security force made up of Enugu State Command Police Operatives, NPF Special Forces, and Troops of the 82nd Division of the Nigerian Army in Enugu. Several others managed to flee with gunshot wounds while three thugs were neutralised. The squad was praised, and CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, the state’s police commissioner, urged law-abiding people to report gunshot wounds.
