Both the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) are prohibited from starting any kind of strike or other industrial action by the National Industrial Court (NIC).

After receiving an ex-parte application from the Attorney General of the Federation, the Minister of Justice, and the Federal Government of Nigeria, the order was issued.

The court determined that it has the authority to step in and impose a restraining order in order to maintain peace and quiet. Two prominent national dailies will publish the order, which will be served on the defendants and displayed on the wall of Labour House. The case will be heard by Justice Olufunke Yemi Anuwe.
