Following an unprecedented National Executive Council meeting in Abuja, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) demanded an immediate closure of flights and the delivery of electricity in Imo State, Nigeria.
Additionally, the unions announced a nationwide walkout that will begin on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
Governor Hope Uzodimma government was charged by the NLC with wage discrimination, outstanding salary arrears, assault, intimidation, harassment, and noncompliance with the federal minimum wage.
The union confrontation takes place a few days before the November 11, 2023, governorship election.
