To improve the FCT’s revenue profile, Minister Wike has mandated the application of the Personal Income Tax and FCT Internal Revenue Service Acts of 2015.
The minister issued the directive “No Tax Clearance Certificate, no transaction” to citizens and organisations, warning that doing so would result in a N50,000 fine or a three-year prison sentence for anyone found guilty of giving false information or getting a Tax Clearance Certificate through fraud or forgery.
A Tax Clearance Certificate must be requested for transactions including Certificates of Occupancy, Contract Awards, and Land Applications by all SDAs, Corporate Bodies, and Anyone Elected by Law, according to the ministry.
