The PRP had asserted that Mbah had previously reached a plea agreement with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

But the Tribunal, which was presided over by Justice Kudirat Murayo Akano on Thursday, ruled that the petitioner had failed to show that the respondent lacked a school diploma or an equivalent, which is the bare minimum need to run for office.

He maintains that the argument that Mbah is ineligible to run for office is unsupported by any evidence.

The tribunal ruled that the evidence provided by the petitioners failed to show any plea contract by the respondent with regard to the matter of Mbah’s plea deal.

The panel further decided that the petitioner needed to present both the genuine and the fake certificates in order to establish the forgery claim.

The tribunal also decided that a majority of the votes cast against the petitioner did not result in Mbah being elected.

The panel claimed that the witnesses consulted by the petitioners were unable to identify the polling places where the elections were not held or their outcomes.
