The Lagos State Government has reported that at least 340 husbands have been beaten by their wives in the last year, according to the Lagos Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA). The agency also reported an increase in male domestic violence cases.
The Lagos State Government has initiated monitoring and assessment of the Safeguarding and Child Protection Executive Order across six education districts.
The Joint Task Force, comprising representatives from various ministries, has engaged over 200 schools in Education Districts 4 and 5, and visited over 90 schools to assess compliance.
The ultimate aim is to determine the level of adoption and implementation of the Executive Order across all six education districts in Lagos State. The policy, ratified in December 2016, is mandatory for all child-centered institutions to ensure the rights of children in their care are safeguarded and adequately protected.
