Uba Sani, the governor of the All Progressives Congress, has been fired by the Kaduna-based Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
Isah Mohammed Ashiru, a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, submitted the petition.
Additionally, the panel ruled that the state’s March 18, 2023, governorship election was invalid.
The three-person tribunal panel, presided over by Justice Victor Oviawe, decided in a 2:1 split judgement that the election was unconclusive and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to hold a new election within 90 days.
Isa Mohammed Ashiru, the PDP candidate, was declared the winner of the election after the PDP baked its claims based on claimed irregularities and electoral fraud.
The panel further decided that INEC must conduct elections in seven wards, four local governments, and 24 polling places with 16,300 registered voters each.
