UK Education Secretary Gillian Keegan will order schools to ban smartphones during lessons and breaks to reduce disruption and improve focus.
The ban follows years of debate on their impact.
The announcement will be made at the Conservative Party’s annual conference in Manchester.
Some schools already ban mobile use, while others permit it during breaks.
