Israel has declared war on Hamas after a surprise attack from Gaza, resulting in a death toll of 1,000. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of a “long and difficult” war ahead.

German ministerial sources reported that several Germans, both Israeli nationals, were kidnapped by Hamas militants during its raids into Israel.
US President Joe Biden has ordered additional support for Israel after the attack. The bloody escalation heightened Middle East tensions and killed over 600 people on the Israeli side, the country’s worst losses since the 1973 Arab-Israeli war. Tens of thousands of Israeli forces were deployed to battle Hamas fighters in the South.
